Washington, D.C. – Today, in support of fans everywhere, the Fan Fairness Coalition (FFC) introduces The Monopoly, a fictional band that embodies the worst of one company’s dominance, selfishness, arrogance, and control to step on a fan’s right to a fair ticketing experience.
The Fan Fairness Coalition is a non-profit organization that supports fans who are tired of being mistreated when buying live event tickets online and gives fans a platform to turn that frustration into real action.
The mission starts by urging Washington to take tangible action by breaking up Live Nation-Ticketmaster in hopes of improving fans' experience when live event tickets go on sale, offering a better understanding of ticket prices, allowing fans to decide for themselves what to do with the tickets they buy, and providing customer support when fans need it most.
In January 2023, the Senate Judiciary Committee held a hearing to investigate claims of Ticketmaster’s practices that have adversely affected fans, including outdated technology and site crashes, high prices, and giving fans limited choices as to how, when, or where to buy and sell tickets. According to Politico, the Department of Justice is reportedly considering action against Ticketmaster, possibly including a lawsuit, with various federal branches giving the issue serious attention.
Fans across America are fed up with the broken ticketing system that Live Nation-Ticketmaster exemplifies. The Fan Fairness Coalition supports the Department of Justice for reportedly launching an investigation into Ticketmaster’s practices, and The Monopoly band is a reminder to fans that the powerful are not incentivized to change on their own.
The Fan Fairness Coalition is giving fans a way to do something about it by urging their members of Congress to take action for fair ticketing.
