Outdated Technology
Crashing during on-sales when it matters most, queues that go on forever, and tickets that seem to disappear are just a few things that fans have come to expect from Ticketmaster.
Ignoring Fans Voices
Just check social media - Ticketmaster isn't listening to fans' questions and concerns.
Driving Up Costs
The current live event landscape takes advantage of fans through high prices.
Restrictions on Fans
By supporting restrictions on fans' rights to resell the tickets they buy, Ticketmaster supports a system that doesn't serve fans.
WHAT IS Live Nation / TICKETMASTER?
In 2010, Live Nation and Ticketmaster merged, creating the most powerful conglomerate in the ticket industry with control over an estimated 70% of the live ticketing market (Ticketmaster says it’s only up to 60%), leaving fans with almost no other options. With this dominance, they’ve made things harder for consumers who want to experience their favorite artists and teams and failed to innovate.
Thanks in part to fans sharing how they have been impacted by this, Congress and the Department of Justice (DOJ) are turning their attention to Ticketmaster. And they’re not done yet. While the DOJ is reportedly preparing to take action against Ticketmaster, including possibly filing a lawsuit, we need to ensure words become actions and that Ticketmaster is broken up once and for all.
The Fan Fairness Coalition (FFC) works to protect live events by putting power back in the hands of fans. We address a wide range of ticketing industry issues that we believe are the root cause of what makes ticket buying so painful. The FFC provides resources to learn more about these issues and offers ways for fans to make their voices heard by taking action on ticketing issues that negatively impact them.
What we stand for…
Ticketmaster needs to be broken up to see true change in live event ticketing
Fans deserve access to purchase tickets with ease and without surprise fees
Fans should effectively own the tickets they purchase - with the right to transfer, resell, or attend as plans allow
